Lucas Oil Pro Pulling Nationals get underway at Lucas Oil Speedway, with Night Two on Saturday
By Lyndal Scranton (Wheatland, MO) -- The Lucas Oil Pro Pulling Nationals got underway on Friday night at Lucas Oil Speedway with five divisions in action.
One of the highlights as the two-night show began was Justin Wagler of Morgantown, Indiana, finishing off a perfect season in the 95 Limited Pro Stock Tractor division. Wagler, driving Real Deere, already had clinched the Silver Series season championship, but completed his 2020 schedule in style with a pull of 329.09 feet.

“What a great class tonight,” Wagler said. “I still say I have the best class of competitors in pulling. I want to give Lucas special shout-out. There’s not a venue we go to probably as nice as this one.
“We worked really had in the offseason,” Wagler added after another season title. “A lot of dyno time and a lot of dyno passes. It paid off this year. There’s a lot of people involved and a lot of people to thank. It’ll be a year to remember.”
In other Night One action:
Limited Pro Stock Diesel Trucks: Adam Kincaid of Waddy, Kentucky, guided Hill Brothers Dodge to victory in the Limited Pro Stock Diesel Trucks Champions Seed Western Series, with a pull of 336.29 feet. It was the truck’s second victory of the season as it beat out All Too Risky, driven by Chris Barton, by just over five feet.
“We had a good group of guys helping me there in the pits to help get her cooled down,” Kincaid said of the winning pull-off effort. “That’s all we really had to do, was cool the turbo and get the motor cooled down a little bit. Then it was good to go.”
“The truck’s really come together well this year. It’s been a knock-down season so far.”
Lightweight Super Stock Tractors: Too Hy Strung, driven by Brice Terry of Gallatin, Missouri, took the victory in ARP Lightweight Super Stock Tractors. Too Hy Strung had a pull of 331.57 feet, 4.54 feet more than runner-up Whitetail Properties driven by Colton Whitworth.
“We got to watching a couple of tractors in front of us and the track was getting pretty bad about trying to pull people to the left,” Terry said. “So my son, the sled spotter moved the cone over to the right a little bit and I decided I’d leave hard enough to spin the tires that hopefully it would stay right, and it worked.”
Mini Rod Tractors: The Mini Rod Tractors victory went to Dillion Bunnage of Ellery, Illinois, driving Phoenix to a pull of 347.73 feet. That was 1.20 feet better than Adam Koester in Footloose.
“When I started I was pretty nervous because it definitely was a drivers’ track out there,” Bunnage said. “You had to ease onto it at the beginning and after that just give it all it’s got.”
Hot Rod Semis: Rubber Duck, driven by Mitch Cloudt of Oberlin, Ohio, captured a narrow victory in the Hot Rod Semi Trucks. Rubber Duck’s pull of 344.41 was just more than a foot better than runner-up Playin’ With Fire, piloted by Ryan DeBroux, at 343.03 in the final pull of the night.
The Pro Pulling Nationals conclude on Saturday night as Champions Tour classes will be Super Modified Tractors-Presented by Big River Steel, Unlimited Super Stock Tractors, Super Farm Tractors, Super Modified 2WD Trucks, Pro Modified 4WD Trucks and 10,000 Pro Stock Tractors.
