Lucas Oil Speedway fans deliver record amount on Ozarks Food Harvest Food Drive Night at the Races

WHEATLAND, Missouri - Race fans again came up big at Lucas Oil Speedway's annual Ozarks Food Harvest Food Drive Night at the Races.

The total amount of food donated last Saturday at the speedway was 6,855 pounds, enough to provide 5,703 meals according to Sarah Byrd, Community Engagement Coordinator of Ozarks Food Harvest. That's the highest total since Ozarks Food Harvest and Lucas Oil Speedway began the partnership in 2011.

"Our fans came through big time and we can't thank them enough," Lucas Oil Speedway General Manager Danny Lorton said. "Each year we have increased what we collected from the year before, which is a tribute to everyone involved in helping out those in need."

Last year's drive raised 5,060 pounds, which equates to 4,216 meals. Since 2011, the drive has raised 58,156 pounds or 48,463 meals.

Twenty-five percent of the food donated goes to Hickory County C.A.R.E.S., the Ozarks Food Harvest's partner in Wheatland. The remainder is distributed across the Ozarks Food Harvest's 28-county service area.

For more information about the Ozarks Food Harvest visit OzarksFoodHarvest.org.
