USRA Modifieds chase extra money, Summit Shootout berth as racing resumes Saturday at Lucas Oil Speedway

WHEATLAND, Missouri - When Big Adventure RV Weekly Racing Series action at Lucas Oil Speedway resumes on Saturday, there will be a little extra on the line for the Pitts Homes USRA Modified division.

Along with being the featured class with a 25-lap, $1,000-to-win main event as the National Wild Turkey Federation and OnMedia/DISH/DirecTV presents the program, the drivers will be shooting for a spot in the USRA Summit Shootout.

Lucas Oil Speedway will host two of the qualifying races for the Summit Shootout, which will held 6th annual Summit USRA Nationals at Hamilton County Speedway in Webster City, Iowa on Sept. 25-28.

A series of events throughout the country will send winners to the Summit Nationals. There is no entry fee for drivers who qualify for the new event, which will pay $2,500 to win and $250 to start. The USRA B-Mods also will have a $2,000-to-win and $200 to start feature at the Summit Nationals with that qualifier at Lucas Oil Speedway coming up on July 20.

"We're excited to partner with the USRA to be a part of sending qualifiers to the Summit Nationals," Lucas Oil Speedway General Manager Danny Lorton said. "This will add some extra excitement to this week's Big Adventure RV Weekly Series event for the Pitts Homes USRA Modifieds and to the Ozark Golf Cars USRA B-Mods on July 20."

While the feature winner from each qualifier will advance to the Summit Shootout, if that winner has already qualified for the Summit Shootout at a previous event at another speedway, then the second-place finisher will qualify.

This Saturday also will see the Big Adventure RV Weekly Series kick off the second half of the season. Midseason champions were Paden Phillips of Chanute, Kansas (Pitts Homes USRA Modifieds), Kris Jackson of Lebanon (Ozark Golf Cars USRA B-Mods), Willard's Kaeden Cornell (Warsaw Auto Marine & RV ULMA Late Models) and Toby Ott of Wheatland (O'Reilly Auto Parts Street Stocks).

Fans also can enjoy the Lake Ozark Corvette Car Club, which will have their cars displayed on the midway.

Gates will open at 4 p.m. Saturday with hot laps at 6:30 and racing at 7:05.

Ticket prices:
Adults (16 and over) $12
Seniors (62 and over)/Military $9
Youth (ages 6-15) $5
Kids (5 and under) FREE
Family pass $30
Pit pass $30

Kids' bicycle donations sought: With the annual Kids' Night Bicycle Giveaway coming up on Thursday, July 4, drivers who want to donate bicycles can do so at the pit office when they check in on Saturday.

The Frog's Signs Junior Fan Club giveaway is set for the July 4 Casey's General Store "Thursday Night Thunder" edition of the Big Adventure RV Weekly Racing Series. Bicycles are being collected for youngsters, ages 5-12, who can sign up to win a bike that evening.

Fans also can drop off bikes on Saturday or at the speedway office during weekday business hours. They also can make cash donations toward purchase of the bicycles.
