Weather turns MLRA Fall Nationals into Saturday only show

By Lyndal Scranton (Wheatland, MO) -- After an all-out effort to prepare the track after a steady rain, Friday's portion of the 5th annual MLRA Fall Nationals and inaugural B-Mod Clash of Champions at Lucas Oil Speedway was postponed.

That means the two-day program will become a one-day event on Saturday. Gates will open at 2 p.m. with hot laps scheduled for 4:30 p.m. and opening ceremonies followed by racing at 5. That is two hours earlier than originally scheduled.

The Lucas Oil Speedway track crew had the dirt oval in condition for hot laps when another round of heavy drizzle moved into the area around 8 p.m. on Friday.

Fans who purchased tickets to Friday's action will be able to use those toward admission on Saturday.

The MLRA feature winner on Saturday will collect $5,000 and a season champion will be determined. Iowa's Chad Simpson leads Will Vaught of Crane, Missouri, by 24 points entering the weekend. Thirty-nine Late Models were entered in a program co-sanctioned by the COMP Cams Late Super Dirt Series.

Winner of the B-Mod Clash of Champions feature will earn $3,000. A total of 66 B-Mods were checked into the pits.
