Lucas Oil ASCS this Saturday at Lucas Oil Speedway

By Lyndal Scranton (Wheatland, MO) -- The high-speed open-wheel action of the Lucas Oil ASCS National Winged Sprint Car Series Tour Presented by MAVTV Motorsports Network returns to Lucas Oil Speedway on Saturday night for the ASCS Bob Westphal Memorial Cup Sizzlin' Summer Speedweek Finale.

Also on hand will be the Lucas Oil POWRi WAR Sprint Car Series, featuring the top non-wing Sprint Car drivers in the region.

"The Sizzlin' Speedweek Finale with the stars of the Lucas Oil ASCS Winged Sprint Series always is a highlight on our schedule," Lucas Oil Speedway General Manager Dan Robinson said. "The ASCS Series along with the POWRi Wingless Sprints always produce thrilling action and our fans always turn out in force for this one."

Fans got a sample of open-wheel action last month at Lucas Oil Speedway's Impact Signs Awnings & Wraps Open Wheel Showdown. Brad Loyet captured the Lucas Oil ASCS Red River/Warrior Region Winged Sprints feature and Justin Grant took the Lucas Oil POWRi WAR Sprints win.

The seven-race Speedweek lineup began last weekend with Jake Bubak of Arvada, Colo., winning at West Texas Speedway in Lubbock and Kyle Bellm of Nixa, Mo., capturing the win at Route 66 Motor Speedway in Amarillo, Texas.

With two different winners added to the season through Lubbock and Amarillo, the most consistent of all has been Johnny Herrera of Albuquerque, N.M., who leads the way in Speedweek standings. Currently runner-up in the overall National Tour, Herrera continues to chase Sam Hafertepe, Jr. of Sunnyvale, Texas, in the national standings with a 63-point separation.

Action continues Tuesday night at Devil's Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas; Wednesday at Lawton (Okla.) Speedway; Thursday at Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, Okla. and Friday at Randolph County Raceway in Moberly, Mo.

In the Lucas Oil POWRi WAR Sprints, Korey Weyant of Springfield, Ill., is the points leader. He's 95 ahead of Wyatt Burks of Topeka, Kan., and 117 in front of Chris Parkinson of Gladstone, Mo.

Father's Day Recliner Giveaway: On the eve of Father's Day, one lucky dad will win a "Layflat Electric Recliner" courtesy of Scott Furniture in Osecola. Registration will take place at the Protect the Harvest display on the midway with a drawing for the winner held during intermission.
